Our Family’s Experience in Buying a Family Protection Dog From EliteProtectionDogs
From the first phone call to the delivery of our dog
In our search for an elite protection dog there were a few non-negotiable’s that were a must for us to find in a dog. With four young kids, all under the age of seven, and with safety as our number one priority, the dog would need to be of the right temperament, gentle, of a level- headed nature, and be able to tolerate and adapt well to a busy and active family lifestyle. Another non-negotiable was finding a group with a long history of consistent positive results in producing dogs that are excellent family dogs, that can be taken out safely into public, while also possessing strong protective capabilities. Another must was knowing the full history of the dog—where the dog came from and the background of the dog’s training. We also wanted documentation showing the lineage and a clear health status.
We spent a lot of time on competitor websites and on the phone learning about many different groups around the U.S. selling elite level protection dogs. Dogs in this category ranged from approximately $50,000- 100,000. We found ourselves hesitating to purchase a dog from these different groups for different reasons. The challenge was finding a dog with the right balance between being an excellent family dog while also possessing high-level protection skills necessary to protect the family. The process was a bit overwhelming until we were introduced to EliteProtectionDogs with Laszlo and Martina.
A good friend of ours whom had recently purchased a beautiful sable German Shepard Dog from EliteProtectionDogs told me we should give them a call. Before calling we wanted to first meet their dog and be around him to get a feel for the personality and the quality of dog that this was. Our friends, whom also have three young kids, joined us for dinner and brought their dog along with them. The dog behaved perfectly, was level and clear headed, gentle, yet alert. This dog was hands down the most impressive dog we had ever been around. We really did not know a dog like this existed! His physical features were also very impressive, his appearance was striking and demanded respect and awe due to his strength and beauty. The dog obeyed his handler perfectly and was simply exceptional with their three little kids, all of whom hugged and patted him throughout the evening. You could see a healthy bond between dog and family, and we found ourselves thinking, this is exactly what we have been looking for.
The next day we gave EliteProtectionDogs a call and we had a very nice talk on the phone. Laszlo answered all of our questions and explained everything from where their dogs came from, to the history and background of their training, and he explained why their dogs make such great family protection dogs. What stood out to us about EliteProtectionDogs was the long family history of breeding and training high caliber family protection dogs. This knowledge has been passed down and perfected over many generations and they continue to work at improving themselves up to this day. There is no substitute for this kind of experience, and it was becoming clear that this was a second-to-none group, and we had discovered the real thing in EliteProtectionDogs.
Next in our conversation we asked if they had a dog that they felt would be a good fit for our family. Understanding our family’s needs he expressed he had one dog in particular that he felt would be an excellent fit. After exploring other options, we came back around to the original dog Laszlo suggested and we were so happy we did. They were able to match us perfectly to one of their dogs and we were very happy we trusted them to help us with the process of matching a dog to our family.
Once we had the dog selected full payment was required to hold the dog and proceed. We were not sure about making such a large payment up front when the dog would not be delivered for approximately 4-5 weeks. But like with trusting Laszlo and Martina and their long history of breeding and training protection dogs and seeing the excellent and seamless experience our friend had in obtaining an incredible dog from them, we also trusted the process and took the necessary steps to hold the dog and get the delivery scheduled.
Laszlo continued to be available and were great communicators during the waiting period. They usually got back to us within a day and they sent us short updates along the way. We were certain EliteProtectionDogs was the best place to get a dog from and that we had the right dog on the way; so we found that we did not worry at all during the waiting period.
Approximately a month or so after the payment was made, Laszlo and Martina delivered the dog and it was a perfect delivery experience. Over the course of a couple days they answered all our questions and reviewed training with us in a hands-on manner. They displayed the dog’s ability to obey basic commands as well as his protective capabilities. We could not have asked for a better experience. EliteProtectionDogs is a world class training group and it showed. We had plenty of time to ask questions and the trainers were very knowledgeable and helpful in teaching us the things we needed to know. We really enjoyed the training time and delivery experience with Laszlo and Martina!
The decision of where to a get a protection dog from is critical. Especially for families when safety, temperament and background are so important. If we were to go back and do this again we would without a doubt go back to EliteProtectionDogs! We have had countless compliments on our dog’s temperament and level of obedience, as well as on his beautiful appearance.
